Gorgeous Mess

I'm Janie. I'm a sophomore in college. I'm working my butt off to pay for an EXTREMELY expensive private college. Thankfully I have a pretty sweet scholarship package to help me out. Nothing annoys me more than people assuming my parents are paying/helping to pay for my college education. So many people seem to think this is a given, at least where I go to school, where the majority of the population is rich. Sometimes that makes it a little bit difficult for a lower-middle class girl like me to connect with my peers. Their immaturity and assumptions annoy the heck out of me.

Sorry for the negativity, lol! I'm part of a very wonderful close knit family. (I like to say that I'm everyone's favorite sister! And I know that I'm everyone's favorite Aunt!) I have three older sisters, all of whom are married, and five adorable nieces and nephews. Those little kiddos brighten my world with their laughter and innocence. I can't help but feel more at peace with the world when I'm with them. Being away at college (an 18 hour drive from home) is very difficult for me sometimes because I am so close to my sisters and my parents. However, cell phones and web cams help me to feel closer to home.

I also have an amazing boyfriend. We're currently in a long distance relationship, which is hard because you have to give each other a lot of trust. I'm trying, though. He's definitely worth it! He and I have been together for over four years now, which is ridiculous when I think that I'm only 20 years old! I guess you would call us high school sweethearts. He is my very best friend, and he has been since practically the day I met him- the first day of Freshman year in high school. I can (and do) tell him anything and everything, and he puts up with it. When I'm sad, troubled, confused, concerned, happy, excited, crazy, anything- I call him. And he shares the feeling with me. I love him for that.

I'm a very crafty person. Besides digiscrapping and traditional scrapping, I crochet, knit, and am very into photography. My sisters call me "The Grandma". They think they're funny. (So do I, but I'll never tell them that!) In my free time, or when I'm procrastinating on my school work, I love to read books and watch ABC TV shows like Grey's Anatomy, Private Practice, and Brothers and Sisters.
